The plant grows well in pots with the right soil mix. It produces an abundance of fruit in the small time it is in season, conveniently before frost arrives. The plant benefits from protection against slug invasions and snails since they love its succulent leaves and stems.

Pepper plants are easy to grow in the correct conditions that exist in the garden or on a patio. They bear flowers and fruit throughout the summer, provided they are kept watered. Plants thrive best outdoors in bright sunlight, although somewhere sheltered from winds is also fine.

This plant requires a good quality loam-based potting compost that is not too rich. It must be allowed to dry out between waterings and should not be over-watered as this can lead to the rotting of stems and branches. Feed with a high potassium "tomato fertilizer" at the beginning of June, half a month before the expected fruit ripening date. While growing new growth, use a balanced fertilizer until new growth has been established, then switch to high potassium feedings as above.
